Alicante or Alacant is the capital of the province of Alicante.
Its located on the Eastern coast of Spain next to provinces of Murcia (south), Albacete (west) and Valencia (north). It is also a historic Mediterranean port. The population in Alicante is approx 335,000 and it is ranked the second-largest Valencian city. Including nearby municipalities, the Alicante has approx 465,000 residents.
Alicante is for everyone and its known for its seafront promenades and wide esplanades. With the historic old quarter (El Barrio), many long and sandy beaches, cultural life, shopping, nice restaurants and a year-round climate, it is easy to see why Alicante has become such a tourist destination.
Alicante also offers sightseeing and a lot of events, with Junes´s Las Hogueras de San Juan (The Bonfires of San Juan) fiesta being a highlight with fireworks all over the city for a whole week.
There are plenty of activities to do throughout the year.
